ILION-Addie H. Brower age 90 formerly of Michigan Avenue passed away on Thursday morning August 16, 2012 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. She had the love and comfort of her family at her side.
She was born on December 25, 1921 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Ebert and Mina Hughes Bowman. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Herkimer. On May 22, 1943 she was united in marriage with Lyle H. Brower. They shared a blessed union of forty-one years until his passing on July 28, 1984.
During her lifetime Mrs. Brower was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Addie had a strong faith in God and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. For all who knew her, they will miss her warm smile and gentile way. To her many friends and family she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Arthur and Nancy Brower of Mohawk, Keith and Terry Brower of Ilion, three daughters and their husbands, Judith and Dale Bartron of Yorkville, Wendy and Donald Piotrowski of Ilion, Marcia and Alan Hailston of Virginia Beach, VA, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Lyle she was preceded in death by five brothers, Ebert, Jacob, Howard, Maynard and Francis Bowman.
Funeral service will take place on Monday at 1:30 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. The Very Reverend Paul Bailey, rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday two hour prior to the funeral service from 11:30 until 1:30 pm.
