RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Alice Bristen, 87, of 28 Monticello St., passed awaypeacefully Thursday morning, April 11, 2002, in Folts Homes, Herkimer.
She was born Feb. 10, 1915, in Michigan, daughter of the late Nicholas andDorothy Nichols. A Michigan resident for 58 years, she graduated from WayneUniversity with a master's degree in education. For many years she had taught atthe university.
In 1952, she married Alex Bristen inDetroit, a loving and devoted union of 49 years until his passing on Aug. 12,2001. After her retirement she and her husband traveled extensively in their AirStream Trailer throughout the United States and beyond, going as far south asthe Panama Canal. In 1973, they left Detroit and settled in Richfield Springs.Mrs. Bristen had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Holy AssumptionOrthodox Church, Detroit.
Surviving are her brother-in-law, George and his wife Irene Bristen ofDearborn, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Najda and her husband Dr. Nichols Cherup ofRochester Hills, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service and interment are private and at the convenience of thefamily.
