Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Alice M. Everson, age 89, of 104 North Washington Street, Herkimer, formerly of Walnut Street, Richfield Springs entered into eternal rest on Saturday afternoon July 3, 2004 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She was born on February 14, 1915 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, daughter of the late Leonard and Anna Hulley Geary. Alice was raised and educated in New Jersey. On October 1, 1938 she married John C. Everson in Lyndhurst, NJ. A loving and devoted union of sixty-two years, Mr. Everson passed away December 14, 2000. Mrs. Everson had worked as a waitress, hostess and cook in various restaurants in the area. She found great joy in cooking and had cooked at the Red Sleigh Restaurant in Springfield Center, The Otesaga Hotel and the Cedarville Country Club retiring in 1977. Being a reserved person was her nature, she lived her life in the service of others. Alice had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Richfield Springs Bible Church. She was a devoted Mom and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family especially her four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are a daughter and her husband Alice and Ronald Wellenstein of Springfield Center, four grandchildren, Stacey and her husband Christopher Barnett of Plymouth, MA., Kim and her husband Dean Barnes of Little Falls, Karen Wellenstein of Mohawk, Dr. Renee and her husband Dr. Komron Ostovar of Norwalk, CT., eight great grandchildren, Jessica, Geoff, Brett and Corey Barnes, Callen, Camber and Caileigh Barnett and Joel Wellenstein, two nieces Lynne DeLade and Evelyn Henderson. Besides her parents and husband John she was preceded in death by brother Leonard and sister-in-law Evelyn Geary. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Richfield Springs Bible Church. The Reverend Alan Miller, Pastor will officiate. Mrs. Everson will be laid to rest with her husband in Cedarville Cemetery, The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Richfield Springs Bible Church Youth Group or the Folts Homes Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to 3rd floor staff of Folts Homes past and present for the love and kindness shown to Mrs. Everson during stay at Folts
