EAST HERKIMER-Alison Hoffman age 85 of Main Roadpassed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon February 3, 2008 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She was born on July 8, 1922 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Leslie E. and Frances VanAlstyne Hoffman. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She furthered her education, graduating from Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. For forty-one years she worked for the Remington Arms Company, Ilion as a stenographer and executive secretary, retiring in 1982. Alison had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls. She was also a member of Evening Star Valley Chapter # 82 Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and AARP. She will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. A friend to many, she will be truly missed. Surviving are her aunt, Louise Waufle of Ilion, two cousins, Jean Wagner and her husband Michael of Marcy and Marshall Gillette of Little Falls. Besides her parents, she preceded in death by her brother, Leslie Edgar Hoffman Jr. who was killed in action during World War II. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery later this spring at a time to be announced. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends Two hours prior to the funeral service (11:00 am until 1:00 pm). Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls Memorial Fund or the American Heart Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Members of Evening Star Valley Chapter # 82 OES are asked to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at12:30 pm for ritualistic services.
