MOHAWK-Alliene Belle Lawrence age 94 of Hinman Road entered into eternal rest on Monday November 1, 2004 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born on August 27, 1910 in Amarilla, TX daughter of the late John Henry and Osella Latta Lawrence. Alliene was raised and educated in Water Valley, KY. While in Kentucky she had worked as a dressmaker. From 1935 until 1955 she cared for children and cooked at the Reinhardt School for the Deaf in Kensington, MD. Alliene moved to Mohawk in 1985 coming here from Fulton, Kentucky and has resided here since that time. She had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls. Alliene enjoyed the beauty of flowers and was a member of the Minnow Brook Garden Club. She gloried in the presence of children and the great joy that they brought her. Her leisure time was spent sewing and was a talented dressmaker. Alliene was deaf from birth, but in spite of the difficulties that deafness can bring she was a loving, caring and hopeful person whose artistic gifts and outgoing nature made her a special person to all who knew her. Surviving are one sister, Norene Egbert of Mohawk, three nieces, Carolyn Kresky of New York City, Francille Egbert of Sand Lake, Karen Martin of Baldwin, MO, one nephew, Daniel Lawrence of Moore Park, CA, eight great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents two brothers, James Alexander Lawrence and Thomas Lawrence and one sister Willie Hester Lawrence preceded her in death. Friends and family will meet for a graveside service in the Camp Beauregard Cemetery, Water Valley, KY on Friday. Local funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
