EAST HERKIMER - Alta C. Grubner age 76 of Laurel Avenue passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 8, 2002 in her home. She was born on March 19, 1926 in East Herkimer daughter of the late Harry and Edna H. Clark Shaver. A lifelong resident she was educated in East Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On December 20, 1947 she married Vincent L. Grubner in the First United Methodist Church Herkimer. For more than twenty years she did clerical work for Remington Rand, UNIVAC and the Library Bureau. She retired in 1981. Mrs. Grubner was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls. In her leisure time she enjoyed the flowers in her yard and watching the humming birds as they busily withdrew the nectar from the flowers. To all that knew her they will remember her warm smile. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are her husband of nearly fifty-five years Vincent, two sons Darryl V. Grubner of East Herkimer, Jeffery A. Grubner and his wife Sherry of Port St Lucie, FL, a sister, Gladys and her husband Phillip Pfannebecker of Brighton, CO, one granddaughter Shannon and her husband William Bailey, two great grandchildren, Gage Isaac Bailey and Savannah Madison all of Port St Lucie, FL, a sister-in-law Theresa Shaver of East Herkimer, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents a daughter Susan Grubner in 1953, a brother Robert Shaver and sister Harriett Helmer, preceded her in death. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls will officiate. Interment will take place later this spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association of Central New York Mohawk Valley Office. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
