JORDANVILLE - Alvin Clyde Miller age 84 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning December 27, 2014. He was born on March 2, 1930 in Millers Mills, son of the late Clyde and Etha Gyer Miller. On November 4, 1950, Alvin was united in marriage to the former Marguerite LaFayette of Schenectady. They eventually settled in Jordanville. Mr. Miller was a well-known builder and skilled carpenter. He served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge from the National Guard in 1960. Alvin was an outdoor sportsman and a participant of many marksmanship events. He served as a Boy Scout Leader, was a member of the American Legion, the Historical Association, a town board member of Warren and for many years served as town assessor for Warren. Surviving him are his dear friends Tom and Wanda Armstrong of Jordanville. Besides his parents and wife of fifty-one years, Marguerite, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Miller and Rena Fike. A graveside service with military honors will take place later this spring in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville at a time to be announced.
