ROME-Andrew Jonathan Elow age 47 passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening April 13, 2012 in Faxton-St Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on April 8, 1965 in Herkimer, son of Kenneth L. Elow and the late Phyllis Simon Elow. A lifelong area resident he was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Utica with "the class of 1983". He furthered his education at Herkimer County Community College where he received his degree in Business Administration and at Patriot Bible College where he received a Master's Degree in Education. On June 12, 1988 he was united in marriage with the former Tia Marie Kogut in the Chapel at Hamilton College in Clinton. They first lived in New Hartford before making their permanent home in Rome. From 1986 until 1995 Mr. Elow proudly served in the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Andrew's first employment was an Accounting Clerk for Jay-K Lumber in New Hartford. He later went to work as a Technical Assistant for Adelphia Communications and currently was self-employed as a medical biller. To all who knew him they will never forget his love for playing both basketball and football. In his leisure time he enjoyed reading and most of all spending time with his family. To the many he came in contact with, he was a good friend and will be sorely missed. Surviving him are his loving wife of twenty-four years Tia, his cherished daughter, Elizabeth, his father, Kenneth L. Elow of Alpine, CA, two brothers, Brad Elow and his wife Theresa of El Cajon, CA, Todd Elow of Hilo, HI, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Walt and Bonnie Kogut of Clinton, two brothers-in-law of Clinton Todd and Tim Kogut, several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer to receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Funeral service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
