MOHAWK - Ann Marie Griffin age 99 formerly of South Washington Street passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon July 2, 2010 in Alpine Nursing Home, Little Falls.
She was born on August 10, 1910 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Ernst and Regina Horner Hils. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Herkimer.
On April 21, 1934 she was united in marriage with Granville Griffin in Mohawk. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty years until his passing in 1974. Mrs. Griffin was employed as an inspector for the Duofold Company in Mohawk until her retirement in 1975.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Mohawk AARP where she enjoyed playing cards with the seniors. She also had a great love for animals.
Ann Marie will always be remembered for her warm smile and caring manner. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Surviving are two nieces, Joanne Ribbeck of ClarenceCenter, Noreen Wong of Tucson, AZand several cousins. Besides her parents and husband Granville she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral service will be on Thursday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. The Reverend Patricia Lawrence, Pastor of the First Baptist Church Herkimer will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday morning one hour prior to the funeral service (10:00 to 11:00 am). Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
