Obituary

Anna N. Breish HERKIMER Anna N. Breish, age 77, of Goodell Avenue, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. She had the comfort of her family at her side. A daughter of the late Steve and Josephine Karpowich Duzula, she was born on November 30, 1929 in the town of Warren. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in the town of Warren. On August 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Paul Breish in Roanoke Virginia. For several years she worked as an assembler for Mohawk Data Sciences in East Herkimer, retiring in 1973. Since 1955, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Herkimer and had served on the board of Deacons. She was a member for the town of Herkimer Senior Citizens and serving as President in 1993. A strong sense of community, she was a dedicated member of the Ladys Elks of Herkimer Lodge #1439 since 1982, volunteered at both Valley Health Services and the Country Manor. Devoted to the American Cancer Society, Anna had served as vice-president in 1993 and 1994, president in 1995 and 1996, Daffodil chairman for several years, and was honored as the volunteer of the year in 1996. She will always be remembered for her loving nature, her warm smile, and vivacious sense of humor. Anna was known by many as the village hugger, you could always count on her to brighten up your day. She was truly loved and will not be forgotten. Surviving are her husband of nearly 60 years Paul, two daughters, JoAnn Kenna and her husband Michael of Puyallup, Washington, Jeanette Breish and her husband Robert Schenk of Mohawk, one brother Steve Dzula of Canandaigua, Teresa Tessie Amey and her husband Donald of Daytona Beach, FL, two grandchildren Kevan Kenna and his wife Robin, Emily Kenna all of Tacoma, WA, great-granddaughter, Tiffany Kenna of Las Vegas, NV, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Cashmere Dzula in 1992. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 12:00 noon in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Patricia H. Lawrence pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Memorial Gardens. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday (two hours prior to the funeral) from 10:00 am until noon. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the 3rd floor staff of Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the loving care and compassion show to Anna and her family during her stay. Members of the Ladies Elks are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:45am for a memorial prayer service.
