HERKIMER-Anna Czernecki age 81 passed away peacefully on Friday evening September 19, 2014 in Folts Home. She had the comfort of loving family at her side. She was born on January 4, 1933 in Herkimer, daughter of the late John and Mary Zawko Lyga. A lifelong area resident she was educated in Middleville School. On September 5, 1953 she was united in marriage with Zenon "Zeke" Czernecki in Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church. They shared a devoted union of forty-four years until his passing on October 8, 1997. At one time she had worked for the Hubbard Heel Company and later for Hale Manufacturing Company. She retired in 1971. A parishioner of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Mrs. Czernecki had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. In her leisure time she enjoyed camping trips and working in her garden at home. Anna will always be remembered as a loving and caring woman whose family always was first and foremost. She will be truly missed by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren.. Surviving are her son Gary Czernecki and his wife Lori of Little Falls, two grandchildren, Catrina Czernecki along with her mother Cheryl Brown of Youngsville, NC, Zenon Czernecki of Little Falls, three sisters, Catherine Brelinsky of Herkimer, Marion Grubner and her husband Paul of East Herkimer, Susan Sjoardema and her husband Peter of Holland, Netherlands, two brothers, Joseph Lyga and his wife Anna, George Lyga and his wife Elaine all of Herkimer, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Zeke she was preceded in death by a son John Czernecki, three brothers, John Lyga, Frank Lyga and Anthony Lyga, two sisters, Helen Brown and Julia Freeman. Funeral service for Mrs. Czernecki will be on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer with Deacon James Bower officiating. Calling hours will take place in the funeral home immediately after the funeral service from 10:20 until 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later time to be announced. The family wishes to thank Jim Walczak for all the care and compassion shown to Anna and to the Staff of both St. Elizabeth's Medical Center and Faxton-St. Luke's Medical Center for their exceptional care. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
