Obituary

RICHFELD SPRINGS - Anna Vertucci Edick, age 77, of Prey Hill Road, passed away on Saturday morning, June 19, 2010, in Otsego Manor, Cooperstown after an extended illness. She was born on September 25, 1932, in the town of Richfield, daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Famulare Vertucci. A lifelong area resident she was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. On July 22, 1961 she was united in marriage with John R. Edick in Saint Josephs Church, Richfield Springs. For thirty-six years they shared a loving and devoted union. Mr. Edick preceded her in death on July 17, 1997. Mrs. Edick worked as a teachers assistant for the Richfield Springs Central School System for twenty years, retiring in 1999. Anna had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs where she sang in the church choir. She will always be remembered as a caring and dedicated person with a true sense of family. Mrs. Edick devoted a good part of her life to raising her handicap son. In her leisure time she enjoyed doing seamstress work for her many friends and family. She will be greatly missed by many. Surviving are two sons, Donald Edick of Mohawk, David Edick and his wife Priscilla of Richfield Springs, two brothers and their wives, James and Barbara Vertucci of Stone Ridge, Fred and Joy Vertucci of Richfield Springs, three sisters, Margaret Lasher of Weaverville, NC, Theresa Oaks and her husband Clifford of Richfield Springs, a granddaughter, Sara Looman and her husband Josh of Ilion, two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Zachary Looman, a brother-in-law, Cornelius Edick of Richfield Springs, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband John, she was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Anthony Vertucci and three sisters, Mary Brown, Grace Avery, Rose Edick and Elizabeth Lyons. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Friday June 25, at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Terence Healy, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Saint Josephs Cemetery. The family will present to receive relatives and friends in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
