Obituary

HERKIMER - Anne K. Klimacek Anna age 92 formerly of Eureka Avenue went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday July 8, 2006 in The Seigenthaler Center Hospice and Palliative Care, New Hartford. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on April 29, 1914 in Herkimer, daughter of the late John and Katerina Duga Kolarik. A lifelong Herkimer resident she received her education in Herkimer High School . On October 15, 1932 she was united in marriage with Steve Klimacek in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. A loving and devoted union of forty-seven years, Mr. Klimacek died on December 8, 1977. For ten years Mrs. Klimacek had worked as a clerical worker for the Girl Scout Office in Herkimer and later for G.H. Mungers Department Store which later became Genungs Department Store, Herkimer, retiring in 1979. Anna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, Herkimer where she had taught Sunday school, was a member of the Altar Committee and for eleven years served as a Deacon to the sick and elderly of the church as well as serving on the Church Council. She had a strong sense of community and a true liking for people. For twenty years she served with the Herkimer Council of Girl Scouts of America. She volunteered as a nutritional worker and scheduler for Midtown Apartments and was a member Mohawk Valley Better Breathing Club, Friends of Martin Luther Home in Clinton and the Herkimer Christian Womens Club. For her involvement with these many activities she was the recipient of the Zonta Woman of the Year award in 1955, the Woman of the Week award from the Herkimer Evening Telegram and the Herkimer County Senior Citizen of the Year award in 1995. To all who knew Anna they will always remember her warm smile and caring way. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Anne and her husband Richard Schmidt of Clinton, Katherine K. Beiter of Avon, six grandchildren, Karl and Gary Schmidt, Steven and Christopher Manos, David OConnor and Ruth Ann OConnor Lewis, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Steve she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Manos, three brothers, John Kolarik, John Paul Kolarik, Paul Kolarik, five sisters, Susan Fariel, Elizabeth Skandera, Katherine Pazicky, Eva Kolarik and Christine Moser and son-in-law, George Beiter... Funeral service will be on Thursday at 10:00 am in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Norman J. Heid will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery . The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer or Hospice Palliative Care, New Hartford. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
