RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Anna Woytowich, age 94, of Hoffman Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 13, 2011, in Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on January 27, 1917, in Bayonne, NJ, daughter of the late John and Mary Dombroski Popka. Anna was raised and educated in Herkimer. On July 27, 1936, she was united in marriage with Peter Woytowich in Saint Johns Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs. They shared a loving and devoted union of eight years until his passing on January 15, 1945. For seventeen years Mrs. Woytowich worked as a tester for UNIVAC in Ilion. She later worked in the Housekeeping Department of Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital. She retired in 1979. In her leisure time she enjoyed working in her garden, crocheting and most of all being surrounded by her cherished family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, John and Thepin Woytowich of Bangkok, Thailand, Steve and Nancy Woytowich of Rome, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Woytowich of South Columbia, a brother John Popka and his wife Patricia of Herkimer, three sisters, Sophie Sokol of Little Falls, Rose Sokol of Thatcher AZ, Helen Witkowski of Ormond Beach, FL, eight grandchildren, Peter Woytowich, Lisa Valentine and her companion David Longaker, Alison Cooper and her husband Jason, Lara Woytowich, Michael Williamson and his wife Tina, Alex Williamson and his wife Gisela, Brian Woytowich and Tonya Gendin and her husband Leon along with thirteen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Peter she was preceded in death by one son Peter Woytowich and a granddaughter Julie Woytowich.
Funeral with Burial Office from the Book of Common Prayer will be on Saturday at 12:00 noon in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend John Dixon Bartle, Rector of St Johns Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs will officiate. Interment will be at a later date to be announced in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday two hours prior to the funeral service (10:00 am until 12:00 noon). Expressions of Sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Cedarville Ambulance Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
