HERKIMER-AnneCarswell 94, formerly of 206 Park Avenue died on Monday morning, July 3, 2000 in Faxton Hospital, Utica. She was born on July 7, 1905 in Herkimer,daughter of the late John J. and Margaret Johnson Donovan. A lifelong arearesident she was educated in Little Falls and went on to Oneonta Normal Schoolwhere she received her teaching certification. On June 16, 1928 she marriedHarry N. Carswell in Greenwich, NY. A blessed union of fifty-six years until hispassing on September 29, 1984. Anne had a special love for children andteaching. She had taught school in Saint Marys School, Little Falls,Battenville Schools and Saint Francis deSales School, Herkimer. `For twentyyears she was the cook for Saint Francis deSales Convent, Herkimer retiring in1991. A devoted wife and mother, in her spare time she loved to read and wasalways ready to travel with her family where ever they would go. She was amember of Saint Francis deSales Church.
Surviving herare four daughters and their husbands; Mary and Charles E. Crandall Jr. ofHerkimer, Anne and Daniel Moller of Davisburg, MI, Helen and Renny Abrams ofDover Plains, Lois and Joseph Cassillo of Herkimer, two brothers: The ReverendMonsignor Walter Donovan of Atlanta, GA, Joseph and his wife Nancy Donovan ofGloversville, a daughter-in-law: Eleanor Carswell of Herkimer, twenty-onegrandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson,several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband Harry she was precededin death by her son Walter Carswell this past January, a grandson Jude Carswell,one brother; John J. Donovan and three sisters; Helen Donovan, Elizabeth Wrightand Rosalie Gossin.
Funeral from FENNERFUNERAL HOME INC., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Wednesday at 9:00 AM. AMass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Francis deSales Church at9:30 AM. The Reverend Peter Nabozny pastor and The Reverend Monsignor WalterDonovan will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The familywill be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends Tuesday(today) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the SaintFrancis deSales School Library. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
