HERKIMER - Anne Lechmanik, 83, of North Prospect Street, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in Folts Homes Inc.
She was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Hastings, Pa., a daughter of the late Nicholas and Irene (Grob) Lechmanik. As a young girl her family moved to Utica, where she was raised and educated. She moved to Herkimer in 1948. For 15 years she was employed with the Mohawk Valley Workshop, retiring in 1958. She had a strong belief in God and was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church. For many years she served on the Saint Mary's Altar Guild of the church.Surviving are a sister, Irene Kubalo of Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, including one nephew, Peter Zwanka of Aiken, S.C.; three nieces, Rene Bethel of Saratoga Springs, Caroline Gluntz and Elaine Haver, both of Vancouver, Wash., who loved and cared for her in special ways. "Thank you for being our aunt - we love you and miss you." Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Lechmanik in January 1997, and a sister, Mary Zwanka in August 1998."It's time for you to go home, back to where you started, with a body that's new and free. No more suffering or pain, our tears for you will be for what we've shared, and what we'll share again one day, when we meet in the arms of God."A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Christ Episcopal Church. The Rev. Paul C. Bailey will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.Memorial donations may be made to MOVAC.
