EAST HERKIMER - Anthony M. "Tony" Grzeszczuk, 80 years old, a long time resident of E. Herkimer, NY, passed away in Ilion, NY, on July 21, 2013, after a long illness. He was born July 24, 1932, in the Town of German Flatts, a son of Mr. & Mrs. John (Anna) Grzeszczuk. He married Pearl M. Shaver in Herkimer, NY. Tony graduated from Mohawk High School. He was a Korean War Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked at Univac and MDS, and he did medical transporting in the Mohawk Valley. He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of E. Herkimer, NY; his children, Kathleen and her husband, Frank Gillette, of Liverpool, Steven K. Lowell, of Springfield, MA, and David and his wife, Lorie Grzeszczuk, of Canastota, NY; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws; and his pets, Simon and Jesse. He was predeceased by several siblings and his granddaughter, Melissa A. Gillette, in November 1989. Fenner Funeral Home, Herkimer, NY, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours and a private graveside service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, NY, for those who helped out.
