HERKIMER - Anthony Liebfried, 80, of 104 N. Washington St., formerly of Murphy Road, Newport, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Dec. 14, 2002, in Little Falls Hospital. He was born March 6, 1922, in Syracuse, the son of the late Louis and Irene Gehring Liebfried. Anthony was raised in Syracuse. His parents both died while he was young and he lived with grandparents until 1946. He then moved to Rome. He had lived locally in both Ilion and Newport. To all who knew him, he was a talkative and cheerful person who bonded easily with anyone he met. He was a Syracuse University sports fan who cherished his SU wristwatch. He loved Folts Homes and looked forward to going to Wakeman Chapel every Sunday for services. Surviving him are his many friends with the Herkimer Area Resource Center community. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. David R. Oertel, chaplain of Folts Homes, will officiate. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery.
