Antonetta Schaffer entered eternal rest on June 18, 2023. Mom had the comfort of her loving family "walking her home."
Tonette or Dunda to many, lived a good life of 93 years. Mom was born on December 16, 1929, in Little Falls, NY to parents Domenick and Angelina (Alessandrini) Marocco. She was the youngest of her siblings and lived to be the matriarch of the Marocco family.
Mom retired in 1994 from the Unified Court System, serving as assistant commissioner of jurors. Prior to this, Mom was the switchboard operator for the Herkimer County Office Building and dental assistant for Dr. Vincent Bisignani, Herkimer NY.
Mom was a member of St Francis de Sales Church. As her mobility became limited, she became a virtual parishioner for the 10am Sunday celebration from Heart of the Nation.
In her leisure time, Dunda enjoyed staying in touch with old classmates through regular telephone chats, viewing Facebook posts from family near and far, baking, cooking, and gardening. Over the past few years, she shared her Christmas cookie baking secrets while supervising her assistant, Duncan aka son, Kevin.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, and daughter-in-love, Kathy as well as her parents, siblings Laurence (Doris), Amelia (John Collis), Lydia (Edward Krutz), and Clare (John Kerzic).
Her survivors include son, Kevin, and his children (Dustin, Eileen, husband, Mario and son, Javi Lemmon), daughter Shauna and son-in-love Anthony Malta and their children (Alex, AJ, wife, Lauren, and son, Joey Malta). Joey and Javi have brought so much joy since their births in 2019.
Her puppers (Bandi, Max, and Buddy) have waited to greet her on the rainbow bridge as she crosses over to reunite with her beloved family and friends.
Zizi Dunda (affectionately known to her many nieces and nephews and their children) loved family first and foremost and as the remaining Marocco sibling is comforted knowing the legacy of family will continue.
Mom enjoyed many flowers and bouquets while alive; she requests that in lieu of flowers or mass cards, donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caring providers at Sitrin Hawthorn House and SiegenthalerResidence. In addition, we commend nieces, Karen Noble and Kathy Marollo for their medical insight along with Dr William Parker and his wife Jo for their continued care and support on this incredible journey.
A mass and Christian burial will begin at 12noon on Tuesday, June 27th at St Francis de Sales Church, 219 N Bellinger St. Herkimer, NY. To share a memory or send a note of condolence, kindly visit www.fennerfuneralhome.com
