RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Arthur E. Neeves Jr., 82, of Millstone Road, passed awaypeacefully on Thursday afternoon May 23, 2002, in his home after a long illness.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1919 in Westport, Conn., son of the late Arthur E.Sr. and Anka Angell Neeves. Arthur was raised in Silver Lake, graduated fromWhite Plains High School and had attended New York University.
An honorably discharged U.S. Air Force veteran, he served our country duringWorld War II. On May 8, 1954, he married Marcella Myer in Milford, Pa. Mr.Neeves' life was devoted to aviation. He was a self-employed flight instructorand was the Fixed Base Operator at the Mahopac Airport in Putnam County. In 1987he and his wife moved to Richfield Springs where he still maintained hisinterests in flying.
He had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Richfield Springs BibleChurch. He will be greatly missed by many, especially his family.
Surviving besides his wife of 48 years, Marcella, are four sons and theirwives, Brian and Carol Neeves of Sioux City, S.D., Arthur and Catherine Neevesof Ipswich, UK, Walter and Patricia Neeves of Reddington, Conn. and Peter andBrenda Neeves of Syracuse; one sister, Melba Bradford of White Plains; 11grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Neeves, onFeb. 10, 1999.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Richfield SpringsBible Church with the Rev. Alan Miller, pastor, officiating. Mr. Neeves will belaid to rest in the Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs, at a time convenientto the family. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3 until 6 p.m. in J. SeatonMcGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. Memorial donationsmay be made to the Richfield Springs Bible Church. Envelopes will be availableat the funeral home.
