ILION -Aurel I. Ellestad, age 86, of Elizabethtown Road, died on Friday morning June 16, 2023 in her home. She had the comfort of her family by her side at the time of her passing. She was born September 4, 1936 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A daughter to the late Orval L. and Thelma Mathews Ingraham. She was raised and educated in Scotsbluff, NE, and continued her education at the University of North Dakota earning her Nursing Degree. She was a Registered Nurse, she worked for many different hospitals and lastly for Ellensburg Hospital in Washington State. Aurel retired in 2000. Aurel was truly a nurse by nature, she was always there to listen to you. She enjoyed gardening and canning, she loved to sew and she was very good at processing chickens. When came to family nothing could be any better than the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she loved dearly. She loved animals especially dogs. Being devoted to her faith with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she shared that devotion by teaching Sunday School. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving her are a son Scott Donald Ellestad of Seattle, Washington, five daughters; Annette Marie Bloss and her husband Herbert of Ilion, Renee Carol Graf and her husband Kevin of Blackfoot, Idaho, Laurel Dawn Aldrich of Pelouse, Washington, Harriet Thelma Barba and her husband Ronald of Clinton, Connecticut, and Jule Ellen Ellestad-Lima and her husband Jorge of Logan, Utah, a brother Donald Ingraham and his wife Jane of Scotsbluff, Nebraska, fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son Gerhard Marius Ellestad, and a brother Orval Ingraham, Jr. A funeral service for Mrs. Ellestad will be on Wednesday, June 21st at 10:00 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gros Boulevard, East Herkimer.
