BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Barbara Sheridan Appleton, 80, formerly of Richfield Springs, died Dec. 7, 2001, in Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge, N.J.
She was born Nov. 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Stanley and Ella Morgan Sheridan. She was raised and educated in Richfield Springs. She was a graduate of Russell Sage College. During World War II she enlisted in the U.S. Army (W.A.C.) and was honorably discharged. She then continued her education graduating from the School of Physical Therapy, Denver, Colo. As a licensed physical therapist she had worked in various veterans' hospitals, retiring in 1986 from the Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care Center, East Orange, N.J.
Surviving are a cousin, Mary Mitch of Pittsburgh, Pa., and a sister-in-law, Alice Sheridan of Richfield Springs.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Wilbur Sheridan.
A service will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs. The Rev. William Harkins, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, will officiate. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery next spring.
