HERKIMER Barbara J. Aubin age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, September 26, 2011 in Valley Heath Services, Herkimer. She was born on June 24, 1921, in Herkimer a daughter of the late Charles and Cora Parker Abeline. A lifelong Herkimer resident she attended Herkimer Schools. On June 29, 1946, she married Richard J. Aubin. They shared a loving and devoted union of 59 years until his passing on April 25, 2006. She had worked as a seamstress for various local dress and sportswear companies. For 12 years she was employed with the Joy Taylor Inc. Mohawk. In 1977 she and her husband moved to Ulmatilla FL. She continued working as a seamstress for Beals Department Store until the age of 83. She retired in 2005 and returned to Herkimer. For many years she enjoyed camping, sewing and being spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a gracious lady, who enjoyed helping others. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are one sister Jennie Mae Pettengill, sister-in-law Shirley Abeline both of Ilion, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Richard, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Charles, and William, and two sisters, Margaret LaFountain and Ann Caswell. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 15th at 9:30 am in the church of St Anthony and Joseph. The Reverend Thomas Lawless, pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Valley Health Services, 690 West German Street, Herkimer.
