Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Barbara M. Silvers, 80, of Main Street, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, Feb. 1, 2005, in The Manor, Cooperstown. She was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Poughkeepsie, daughter of the late Maxmillion and Sarah Morning Selig. Barbara was raised in Poughkeepsie, where she went to Saint Mary's School and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School. She was united in marriage with Joseph W. Silvers in Poughkeepsie, a loving union of many years until his passing in 1964. Mrs. Silvers worked as a waitress in various restaurants in Poughkeepsie and the surrounding area, retiring in 1991. While living in Poughkeepsie she was a member of the Wappingers Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She moved to Richfield Springs in 1991.Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Zydel of Schuyler Lake and Barbara Mosher and her husband William of Poughkeepsie; a daughter-in-law, Veronica Silvers of Springfield; two sisters, Mary Shea of Poughkeepsie, Ann Sianinka of Hyde Park; six beloved grandchildren, eight adoring great-grandchildren who knew her as "Nanny Noo," along with several nieces and nephews.Besides her parents and husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Silvers, a son-in-law, David Zydel and three brothers.Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. in Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs.Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the Catskill Area Hospice Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta 13820.
