Barbara Ann Smith Plever, died unexpectedly at her home near Jordanville, on Friday, January 25. She was born on July 23, 1942 in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Dorothy Nestle Smith (Moore) and Olin R. Smith. She was in the Owen D. Young Central Schools Class of 1960. After spending her early years on the family farm in Starkville, Barbara moved to Jordanville when she married Floyd Plever on May 6, 1961. For 48 years, they enjoyed a devoted partnership on the dance floor, on their dairy farms, and in life. Barbara is well remembered for her many years of hard work milking cows, while also maintaining their homes with a special eye for color and decoration. She cherished her family and themany friendships that she established. Barbara hosted countless gatherings at her home. She was predeceased by Floyd in 2010 and a brother, Stanley Nestle in 2004; and, in-laws Donald and Lois Plever Aney(2017,2005). Barbara is survived by a sister and her husband, Ed and Norma Smith Witkowski of Hastings, FL; a brother and his wife, Arthur and Cindy Smith of Fort Plain; and a brother and his wife, Robert and Kathy Smith of Starkville. Also surviving are beloved in-laws Thomas and Lillian PleverArmstrong of Springfield Center; and, James and Marion PleverGardner of Mohawk. In addition, she leaves many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved to visit Aunt Barbara. The family is grateful for the outpouring of kind words and gestures of friendship that have been expressed in Barbaras memory. Following cremation, a spring memorial service is being planned.
