Obituary

SEBRING, FL- W. Barron Wilson, age 76, formerly of Herkimer passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening November 2, 2011 in his home after an extended illness. He was born on December 7, 1934, in Gouvernuer, son of the late Howard A. and Madelyn Byrns Wilson. Barron was raised and educated in Gouverneur. He furthered his education at Cornell University where he received his Bachelors Degree.For twenty-six years Mr. Wilson owned and operated Corts Truck Equipment Inc. in Whitesboro, retiring in 2000.On June 25, 1999, he was united in marriage with the former Mary Beckingham in Cape Vincent and in 2000 they moved to Florida where they have remained since.Barron had a strong faith in God and a true sense of community. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls where he had served on the Church Board of Trustees and the District Board Central Conference of the Methodist Church. He was a member and past president of the Herkimer Kiwanis Club, a member of the Herkimer County Cooperative Extension, Board of Governors of the 4-H, a Life Member of the Board of Directors at Folts Homes, and a Loan Officer for the Oneida National Bank. To all who knew him they will never forget a kind and caring gentleman who found much joy in doing for others without looking for anything in return. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Surviving besides his loving wife of twelve years, Mary, are three daughters, Cheryl Wilson and her husband Thomas Hauser of Ashland, OR, Lisa Wilson and her husband David Tuttle of Warwick, RI, Christie Wilson of E. Greenwich, RI, two sister, Leslie McCann of Decatur, GA, Janet Harrison and husband Ron of Farmington, CT, one brother Brian Wicks and his wife Christine of Jupiter, FL eleven grandchildren, a sister-in-law Marian Clark and her husband Jim of Floyd, niece, Adrian McCann and nephew, Matthew McCann along with several other nieces and nephews.Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with the Reverend Janet Gleason, pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home on Saturday to receive relatives and friends two hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to St. John Methodist Church, Sebring, FL or Folts Homes. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
