TOWN OF EXETER-Bernice D. Surprenant age 73 of Allen Road, passed away on Thursday morning December 23, 2010 after an extended illness.She had the peace and comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on February 18, 1937 in West Warren, MA, daughter of the late Henry J. and Marie A. LaPointe Bouchard.Bernice was raised in West Warren where she was first educated in parochial school and was a graduate of West Warren High School.Mrs. Surprenant was employed by the William E. Wright Company in West Warren where she was a Quality Control Supervisor.She retired in 1992 after thirty-two years of dedicated service.
On February 14, 1990 she was united in marriage with Raymond Joseph Surprenant in Spencer, MA.In 2006 they moved from West Warren, MA to the town of Exeter, so they could be nearer to their family.
Bernice was a member of the Hugick, Purcell & Shepard American Legion Post # 616 Ladies Auxiliary.In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, cooking and was a loyal follower of the Food Channel on television.To her family, cherished are the memories of the warm aromas of cooking and baking that permeated their home throughout the years.She loved both her home and family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving besides her husband of twenty years Raymond are two sons and their wives, Donald Jr. and Kathy Letendre of Plainville, CT, David and Mary Ellen Letendre of Exeter, two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Kenneth Blackmer of Antioch, TN, Donna and James Lynch of Canajoharie, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Welch and Jeanette Bean.
A Celebration of Bernices Life will be held in the Richfield Springs Veterans Club, corner of Lake and East James Street, RichfieldSprings on Sunday January 2, 2011 from 1:00 until 4:00 pm.The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, for the care and compassion shown to Bernice and her family during this difficult time.
