RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Bernice LaLonde Thompson age 98 of County Route #22 passed away on Friday morning July 27, 2001 in her home after along illness.
She was born on February 17, 1903in Odessa, Minnesota daughter of the late James and Emma Mews LaLonde. Bernicewas raised and educated in Watertown. On August 24, 1919 she married Lyle MarkThompson in Watertown, a loving and devoted union of sixty-five years until hispassing on March 9, 1985. A resident of Richfield Springs since 1948, she andher husband had moved here from St. Johnsville. Mrs. Thompson had worked for theCorsos Dress Manufacturing Company St. Johnsville, retiring in 1965. She was amember of the St. Johnsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She wasof the Lutheran faith. Bernice will always be remembered as a caring, loving andhopeful person and will be missed by her friends and family.
Surviving are one son; Lyle andhis wife Joan Thompson with whom she resided in Richfield Springs, a daughter;Regina and her husband John Miedema of Reno, NV, a daughter-in-law; Alice JeanThompson of St. Johnsville, one brother; Charles LaLonde of North Dakota, twosisters; Myrtle Bunting of South Dakota, Gladys Marino of St. Johnsville, ninegrandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren,several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded indeath by her son Vernon Thompson in October of 2000, three brothers; Percy,James and Melvin LaLonde, three sisters; Selma Longnecker, Florence Bunting andTheresa LaLonde who died in infancy.
It was Mrs. Thompson's wish that all services andinterment be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangementsare with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
