LITTLE FALLS-Betty Jane Bowman, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon May 3, 2020, in the Palantine Nursing Home, Palatine Bridge.
She was born on February 7, 1935, in Little Falls. Betty was raised and educated in Little Falls. On March 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Richard I. Bowman in Herkimer. They shared a loving and devoted union of sixty-five until his passing on July 17, 2018. Mrs. Bowman worked in the housekeeping department of the Herkimer Memorial Hospital until its closing and then for Valley Health Services, Inc. until her retirement in 1990.
Betty's family was most important in her life and in her retirement she delighted in being with her cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchild. She was extremely proud of her vast teddy bear collection. To all whoknew her she was a caring, hard-working and generous lady. She will be sadly missed.
Surviving are her three sons, Richard I. Bowman Jr. of Ilion, David Bowman and his wife Kim of Newport, Steven Bowman and his wife Melinda of Poland, two daughters, Rebecca Bowman of Frankfort, Kim Congdon and her husband Herman of Little Falls, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Richard she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Leland Hadcox, one sister, Doris LaPorta.
Funeral service and interment for Mrs. Bowman were private and at the convenience the family.
