EAST HERKIMER – Betty Jane Boyer, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born on April 15, 1931 in Herkimer a daughter of the late Raymond and Stella (Tarbox) Lowell. Raised and educated in East Herkimer, she graduated from Herkimer High School. On June 10, 1950 she was united in marriage to Hubert G. Boyer in the First Baptist Church Herkimer. They shared a devoted union of 63 years until his passing on May 17, 2014. Betty's life revolved around her family and church. She enjoyed her home, cooking and gardening. She served on many church committees throughout the years. She was a gentle woman who made you feel comfortable to talk to. Her quiet concerning manner reassured you that all would be well whenever you were with her. Upon her husband's retirement in 2013 they enjoyed traveling, visiting many states. Betty will be sadly missed by many especially her devoted family. Surviving are 2 sons, Douglas Boyer and his wife Susan of Morgantown, WV, Eric Boyer and his wife Sharri of East Herkimer. 2 daughters, Sandra Cirillo of East Herkimer, with whom she resided for the past few years , Cheryl Bolen and her husband Allen of Little Falls, 2 brothers, Robert Lowell and his Artie of Herkimer , James and Gerry Lowell of Herkimer, 2 sisters, Frances Castilla of WV, Ellen and Joe Palmentari of LI, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Hubert, she was preceded in death by a son Gene Boyer, 2 grandchildren, Rhiannon and Dustin Boyer a brother Charles Lowell, sisters, Marion Taylor, Pearl Swart and Edna Reitz. Funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
