Beverley June Van Winkler, age 80, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 3, 2018 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady. She had the peace and comfort of her family by her side. Beverley was born July 11, 1937 in Cooperstown. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Vera Wightman. She resided on her parents farm in Schuyler Lake and from 1950-1955 was a member of the Young Cooperative Dairyman's League Cooperative Association, Inc; Junior Officer 1955. She graduated from Richfield Springs Central High School. She continued her education and graduated from the Utica School of Beauty Culture. On June 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to Frederick S. Van Winkler in Cooperstown. They shared a devoted union of forty-five years until his passing in December of 2003. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and writing. She was a mother of three children, two sons; Mitchell Van Winkler and Jeffrey Van Winkler and a daughter Shelly Van Winkler. She had four grandchildren: Tia Van Winkler, Richfield Springs; Taylor Van Winkler, Denver, CO; Kaitlin Van Winkler; and Kyle Van Winkler, Milford. Also surviving is her sister, Shirley Spraker and husband Donald Spraker and sister in law Eleanor Wightman; as well as many, nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents, brother Willis Wightman, and husband Frederick she is predeceased by her two sons Michael 1961 and Robin 1972. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday January 13th at 4:00 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The family will receive relatives and friends, on Saturday, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Springfield Center Cemetery will take place in the spring at a time to be announced.
