HERKIMER-Beverly Grzeszczuk age 81 of West German Street formerly of Mohawk passed away peacefully on Saturday morning April 14, 2012 in Saint Elizabeths Medical Center, Utica.
She was born on August 14, 1930 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Edith Gilbert Oldfield. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Herkimer.
On August 27, 1949 she was united in marriage with Stanley Grzeszczuk in Saint Josephs Church, Herkimer. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm on Griffin Road in Mohawk. Mr. Grzeszczuk passed away on October 25, 1985.
Outside the home, Beverly had worked in retail sales at the State Street Mill and later for the Mohawk Mill Bargain Center. She retired in 1970
For the past three years Mrs. Grzeszczuk has been a resident at Valley Services Inc. Herkimer. There she enjoyed being a Valley Health Bell Ringer, playing bingo, patio visits and all her animal friends that came to visit. Her kindness was particularly evident in her strong love for animals and their comfort being around her.
Mrs. Grzeszczuk will always be remembered as a loving wife and devoted mother. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed
Surviving are one daughter, Ann Hilts and her husband Jack of Herkimer, grandchildren Joyce Hilts and Jim Hilts, great grandchildren, Jessie, Tim, Kristy and Alexandria, a special sister-in-law Patricia Oldfield, special nephew Dan Oldfield, in-laws, Anthony and Pearl Grzeszczuk, Mary Dygert, Stella and John Bereza, Jim Seriour, special extended family, Winnie and Richard Hilts, Ann Zimmerman, Judy and Bill Whitford, Mary Franco, Michael Candela, Dorothy Murphy along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her mother Edith and husband Stanley she was preceded in death by brothers, Girard, Robert, Andrew, Gordon, two infant brothers and a nephew Don Oldfield
Calling hours for Mrs. Grzeszczuk will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 11:00 am with the Reverend Ann Zimmerman, Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer
