Obituary

EAST HERKIMER - Beverly B. Williams, age 94, of Main Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, September 25, 2012, in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She had the comfort of her cherished family at her side. She was born on June 28, 1918, in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Franklin and Margaret Streeter Butler. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Ilion High School with the class of 1936. She was employed with the Government Pentagon in Washington DC, Miami and then transferred to the Rome Air Force Base. While working in Washington DC she met Joseph C. Williams. On April 1, 1945 they were united in marriage. They shared a loving and devoted of union of forty-one years until his passing on August 18, 1986. In 1965 she went to work as a Senior Service Assistant for the Prudential Insurance Company in Herkimer, retiring from the Utica Office in 1980. As an active member in the East Herkimer Community, she joined the East Herkimer Volunteer FD Ladies Auxiliary, and the Town of Herkimer Senior Citizen Group. She enjoyed golf, bowling, quilting, and dancing and was a member of the dance team for the Herkimer County Bi-Centennial Celebration. However her family was her fondest enjoyment. Proud of their accomplishment and shared in their sorrows she cherished the time spent with each of her nieces and nephews and their families. They in turn considered her their second mom. Beverly will be remembered for her zest for life, her smile and willingness to lend a helping hand to her neighbors, friends and family. She will be dearly missed. Surviving are her thirteen devoted nieces and nephews, Richard Butler and his wife Patricia of East Herkimer, Barbara Baker and her husband Myron of Rock Hill, SC, Gene Butler and his wife Kim of East Herkimer, Charlotte Brown Moffat of Hobesound, FL, Beverly Brown Frank and her husband William of Newport, Cathy Brown Olsen of Harlem, GA, Rebecca Brown Bunce and her husband Randall of Springbrook, PA, Joyce Smith of Liverpool, Curtis Smith and his wife Kathleen of Sonoma, CA, Michael Smith, Gregory Smith and his wife Karen, Peggy Jo Smith all of Liverpool, June Ann Smith Walters and her husband David of Syracuse, many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and one great- great-great nephew. Beside her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Gurney Butler in 2009, sister-in-law Frances Butler in 2003, two sisters Elizabeth Smith in 1995, Violet Brown in 2006 and one niece, Celeste Smith Davis. Mrs. Williams family will be present to receive relatives in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral service will take place on Monday at 12:00 noon in the Mohawk Reformed Church, 18 South Otsego Street; Mohawk. The Reverend Brian Engel. Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Mohawk Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Mohawk Reformed Church or the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
