Obituary

HERKIMER-Blanche I. Skinner age 88 of 104 North Washington Street entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning December 31, 2003 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She was born on January 12, 1915 in Herkimer daughter of the late John Wiley and Orpha Iva Hilts DeLong. Blanche was raised and educated in Herkimer. In March of 1937 she married John Hart in the Mohawk Methodist Church. A loving union of twenty-three years, Mr. Hart passed away on January 19, 1961. At one time she worked for the Martin Fishing Reel Company in Mohawk and also worked as a upholsterer for the Standard Furniture Company, Herkimer until her retirement in 1972. On May 20, 1972 she married Gerald Skinner in the Ilion Baptist Church Rectory. In 1972 they moved Durhamville, returning to this area in 1997. Mr. Skinner passed away in that year. She had a strong belief in God and was of the Baptist faith.. First and foremost in her life were her home and family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild. Surviving are two sons, Robert and his wife Linda Hart of Herkimer, Roger Hart of New Orleans, LA, a daughter Linda Geloso of West Seneca, one sister, Mary Wisnoski of FL, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands John Hart and Gerald Skinner she was preceded in death by two sons Richard Hart, Ronald Hart, four brothers, Floyd, John, Merton and Charles DeLong. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 2:30 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend David Kirkpatrick, Chaplain of the Masonic Home, Utica will officiate. Mrs. Skinner will be laid to rest with her husband John Hart in the Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm.
