Obituary

TOWN OF COLUMBIA - Bonnie Ferguson, 50, of North Columbia Road, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester after a long illness. She was born Sept. 11, 1950, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Leo and Alice Cioch Walts. A lifelong area resident she was raised in West Winfield and graduated from West Winfield Central High School. Bonnie was a homemaker who enjoyed the simpler things in life. She was very artistic and enjoyed making arts and crafts. She participated in many arts and craft shows throughout the area. She will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. She will be greatly missed by many, especially her family. Surviving are her loving companion, William Matteson and one son, Jason S. Matteson, both of Columbia; a daughter, Tracie J. Ferguson of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, David and his wife Maida Walts of North Utica; two sisters and their husbands, Betty and Howard McCoy of Cedarville and June and Richard Bunce of West Winfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Donald Walts. Funeral service will be Friday at 5 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. David Kirkpatrick, chaplain of the Masonic Home, Utica will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday two hours prior to the funeral service, from 3 until 5 p.m.
