HERKIMER-Brian Douglas Mowers, age 36, passed away on Monday afternoon, January 4, 2016.
He was born on December 11, 1979, in Utica, beloved son of Daryl and Barbara Humphrey Mowers. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Mohawk High School. He furthered his education, receiving a certification in welding from Mohawk Valley Community College. At one time Brian had worked for the Department of Transportation in Florida. He also was a stone mason and a skilled carpenter before going to work for Harbor Point in Utica until 2014. He then moved to Herkimer to take care of his grandparents Bill and Jean Humphrey. Brian was engaged to be married to the love of his life Kristen Foley-Mowers this coming September.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls. In his leisure time he was an outdoorsman, his passions being fishing and boating. To those who knew him he was a caring, loving and helpful person with an unforgettable smile. He made friends easily and was always there for them. He will be sadly missed. Brian was always full of life and spread joy to anyone he came in contact with. He took pride in and dedicated his life to his family. His niece Camden was the apple of his eye. He will forever be remembered as an extraordinary brother, uncle, husband, son, and friend. He is gone but never forgotten. His spirit will continue to light up our lives as he looks down on us with his euphoric smile.
Surviving are his parents, Daryl and Barbara Mowers of Ilion, his fianc Kristen Foley-Mowers and her son Joshua Swilling, a brother, Sean Mowers, his wife Janet, and their children Jaime, Derek, and Kiera Mowers all of Bridgewater, two sisters, Ashley Dandrea, her husband Nicholas and their daughter Camden all of Frankfort, Shannon Crisman, her husband William and their children Maxwell and Miranda all of VanHornesville, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours for Brian will be held on Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will be held immediately after at 4:00pm with the Reverend Janet Gleason, pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
