HERKIMER-Carl Edward Arnold age 82 of Protection Avenue passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning April 8, 2014 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown after a short illness. He was born on November 23, 1931 in Natural Bridge, NY, son of the late Nelson and Nancy Shaffer Arnold. Carl was raised in Natural Bridge and was a graduate of Carthage High School. Mr. Arnold was employed as a mail room clerk for the State of New York in Albany from 1977 until his retirement. He was a Pentecostal Minister, serving various Pentecostal Churches in SanFrancisco, CA, Penn, Rensselaer and nearby areas. In 2009 he came to the Mohawk Valley, residing in the Galinsky Apartments. With his deep religious background he assisted with Bible study and prayer groups in the Herkimer area. As a member of the Word Christian Center in Mohawk, he brought the scriptures to many shut-ins. Mr. Arnold was also a member of the Full Gospel Business Mens group in Albany. To all who knew him he was a disciple of his Lord and Savior. As a follower of Christ, he was a truly honest and upright man. He will be greatly missed. Surviving him are a brother, Clayton Gene Arnold of Albany, one sister, Norma Ivey of Linden, NC, a dear friend, Catherine Flynn of Herkimer along with many nieces, nephews and several cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lila Crespo. Calling hours for Mr. Arnold will be on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 4:00 pm with Pastor Eugene Kipper of the Word Christian Center, Mohawk officiating. Interment will be later this spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Word Christian Center.
