HARTWICK - Carl Edward Tyo, age 59, of County Highway 16 passed away on Sunday May 22, 2011 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born on August 13, 1951 to the late Leon E. and Anna Millbower Tyo. He attended West Winfield Schools and was a lifelong area resident. Carl worked for the Town of Hartwick Highway Department and a part time self-employed farmer laboring at various farms in the area. He was a collector of toy trucks and tractors also he truly enjoyed the farm life. For all who knew Carl he was very hard working man and a friend to many. Surviving him is his companion Peggy Meres of Hartwick, two brothers Leo Tyo of Bellwood, Ill, and Paul Tyo and his wife Denise of Leonardsville, three sisters Mary Tyo of Cedarville, Joan McLean and her husband Martin of Hartwick, Anna Wellington and her husband Ralph of Cedarville, his two cherished step-grandchildren Kiara and Brooke, several, nieces, nephews and cousins . A memorial service for Carl will be held on Friday May 27th at 4:00 pm in the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs with the Reverend John Young officiating. Burial will take place at a later time convenient to the family. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (three hours prior to the service).
