EAST HERKIMER-Carol J. Blum age 82 passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 6, 2021 in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center Utica. She was born on December 25, 1939 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Ralph and Florence Johnston Lowell. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School class of 1957. On August 17, 1957 she was united in marriage to Roger L. Blum in Herkimer. For more than twenty years Mrs. Blum worked in the Housekeeping Department at Folts Home. She retired in 2001. Carol was a devoted wife and mother her family was foremost in her life. Her leisure time was relaxing in the kitchen enjoying a good cup of coffee or going camping at North Lake. She will always be remembered as a caring, loving and helpful person who was happiest when surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Surviving her are her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Roger, three sons and their wives, Scott and Annette Blum of Herkimer, Keith and Christina Blum of Herkimer, Mark and L'Annette of Ilion, one daughter Darlene and her husband Dale Brewer of Herkimer, one brother, Donald Lowell of Frankfort, twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son Jamie Blum and two sisters, Esther Rogers and Nellie Lowell. A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer with the Reverend Joelle Faulks, pastor of the 1st United Methodist Church, Herkimer/Little Falls officiating.
