Obituary

MOHAWK - Carol A. Lynch, 68, of Columbia Street, entered into eternal rest to join her beloved late daughter, Susan Elizabeth Lynch, on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was surrounded with the support, comfort and love of her family at the time of her passing. She was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Floyd A. and Nellie M. Pickard Andrews. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School, "class of 1952." She had worked as a telephone operator for the New York Telephone Co. On May 7, 1955, she married Douglas P. Lynch in Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. For 19 years Mrs. Lynch was a volunteer for the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. She was a founding member and past vice president of the Leatherstocking Candlelighters, a group who were dedicated to the care of children with cancer and the support of their families. Carol will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person who was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Douglas; three daughters and their husbands, Linda and James Walczak of Herkimer, Connie and Michael McKenna of Somers, Conn. and Christine and Kevin Kramer of Moon Township, Pa.; five grandchildren, Leigh Walczak of Herkimer, Ashley and Sean McKenna of Somers, Conn. and Douglas and Elizabeth Kramer of Moon Township, Pa.; two sisters, Beverly Rogers of Stuart, Fla. and Marilyn Wittman of Waterville; one brother, Donald Andrews of Colchester, Conn.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Catherine Miles of Mohawk, James and Helen Lynch of Mohawk, Gerald Lynch of Oneida and Donald and Helen Lynch of Texas; dear friends, Mickey and Donald Casey of Mohawk and Mary and Bernard Dunn of Herkimer; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and daughter, Susan, a brother, Edward Andrews, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Wrightson Tongue, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer-Little Falls, will officiate. Mrs. Lynch will be laid to rest in Mohawk Cemetery at a later time convenient to the family. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relative and friends on Saturday from 2-5 p.m. Memorials may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the third floor staff of Bassett Healthcare and Doctor Kalsoom Khan and her staff for their care and compassion during Carol's stay at the hospital.
