MOHAWK, N.Y. Carolyn "Lynn" Drury, age 70, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 14, 2015, in her childhood home wrapped in the arms of her loving family. Lynn was born on August 20, 1944, in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Arthur and Vera Hurlburt Burgess. A lifelong Mohawk resident, she was a graduate of Mohawk High School. She furthered her education at Delhi Community College, where she received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Service. On September 14, 1968, she was united in marriage to James D. Drury at the Mohawk Reformed Church. For thirty seven years, Mrs. Drury worked for the Herkimer County Department of Motor Vehicles where she attained the position of Supervisor. She retired in 2005. Lynn had a strong faith in God and was a lifelong member of the Mohawk Reformed Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed collecting Olympic Pins, reading, and most uniquely, restoring old cars. To her, special times were the ones spent vacationing with her family at Walt Disney World. To all who knew her, she was happiest when she was around her many friends and family, especially her favorite granddaughter, Alexis. She was a special lady and will be truly missed. Surviving are her devoted husband of 47 years, James; two daughters, Alyson Drury and partner, Luis Ramos, of Mohawk, and Katherine Herrlett and her husband, Lothar, of Rotterdam; three grandchildren, Alexis Hanford and her partner, Sydney Putnam, of Ilion, Madyson Lennon, of Ilion, and Collin Dayton, of Mohawk; three step-grandchildren, Laiken, Eden and Nicholas Herrlett; a brother, John W. Burgess and his wife, Catherine, of Lutherville, MD; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Teenie Steel, of Mohawk; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours for Mrs. Drury will be on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mohawk Reformed Church, with Reverend Brian Engel, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mohawk Cemetery. Lynn's family wishes to express their deep appreciation to close friends and neighbors, Chuck and Mary Haefele, and special Hospice nurses, Judy Stubba and Elena Scalise, for the excellent care and compassion shown to Lynn and her family during this most difficult time.
