Obituary

ROCHESTER - Carolyn Guido Mackin Carrie age 89 of North Greece Road, formerly of Richfield Springs passed away Saturday morning November 6, 2010 in her home.She had the peace and comfort of her family at her side. She was born on January 6, 1921 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Augustino and Faustina Fiore Guido.Carrie was raised and educated in Herkimer.On September 30, 1942 she was united in marriage with Leo B. Mackin in Herkimer. They shared a loving and devoted union of fifty-one years until his passing on May 4, 1994. They first made their home in Richfield Springs and later in Syracuse and Poughkeepsie prior to retiring in Richfield Springs.In 1990 they moved to Rochester. Mrs. Mackin had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. She was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Churchin Richfield Springs. She was also a member of the Hugick, Purcell and Shepardson American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary in Richfield Springs. Carolyn devoted her life to her family.To them cherished are the memories of the warm aromas coming from her kitchen and the wonderful meals and delicious desserts that awaited them. In her leisure time she found much enjoyment watching the soap operas.To her friends and family, Carrie will always be remembered as a warm, caring person with an unforgettable smile.She will be greatly missed. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Annette Mackin and husband Gary Bagley of Rochester, Maria Mackin and husband David Carter of Scottsville, two sons and their wives, Leo Mackin and wife Catherine, Brian Mackin and wife Helene all of Richfield Springs, one sister, Jane Michel and her husband Roy of Utica, a sister-in-law, Teresa Waite and her husband Harold of Ilion, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces including a special niece, Jeanette Boyd of Ilion and several nephews. Besides her parents and husband Leo she was preceded in death by a son Ronald Mackin, three brothers, James, Albert, and Fiore Guido, three sisters, Antoinette Schlotzhauer, Jean Hall and Theresa Pinto. Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs on Thursday at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Terence Healy, Pastor will officiate.Interment will follow in Saint Josephs Cemetery.The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm.Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Visiting Nurse Hospice, 2180 Empire Boulevard; Webster, NY 14480.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
