Obituary

ILION- Carolyn R. Miller age 67 of 80 East North Street entered into eternal rest on Monday December 15, 2003 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on July 3, 1936 in Rochester daughter of the late Walter and Mabel Miller Slocum. Carolyn was raised and educated in Rome. In 1979 she came to Ilion and was employed by Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer until her retirement in 1986. Carolyn had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. Her leisure time was taken up with knitting, crocheting making afghan quilts. She loved pets and found great joy of having her own Cockatoo Bird. She was proud of receiving a special award in 1976 from the Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw for outstanding effort in achieving functional goals. A familiar face in Ilion she would be seen daily going about her business in her electric wheel chair with the familiar red pinafore flag waving in the breeze. Carolyn was a warm, caring person who handled lifes setbacks with dignity and ease. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are three brothers, Charles and his wife Patricia Slocum of Carthage, TX, James Slocum of Hornell, George and his wife Joyce Slocum of Candor, three sisters and their husbands, Marcella and Curtis M. Butler Jr. of Arkport, Ruth and Lloyd Henry of New Providence, PA, Janet and Albert Craig of Columbia, SC, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many great-nieces and great-nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 noon in the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. The Reverend Joseph Benintende, Pastor will officiate. Interment will take place Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls next spring. There are no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Shrine Crippled Childrens Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer
