RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Catherine (Smith) Van Allen, 95, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Catherine (Katie) was the daughter of the late Frank and Hazel (Pratt) Smith. Katie worked for the National Baseball Hall of Fame for 25 years until her retirement. Katie was a communicant of St. Joseph's the Worker RC Church Richfield Springs. She was a member of the Richfield Springs Garden Club. Surviving are her children, Karen (Colin) Ingham of Okatie, SC; a son, Tom (Dede) Van Allen of Camillus, grandchildren, Allie, Matt and Chrissy Van Allen; sister, Helen Mulligan of Cooperstown, several nieces and nephews. Katie was predeceased by her husband of 62 years John, 2 sons, John and Gary, 3 brothers Eugene, Glenn and Francis Smith and a sister Margaret. Calling hours will be in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Tuesday May 28th from 4-6 pm.
