Obituary

Charles A. Bouteiller, of Herkimer, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, on his 82 birthday.  At the time of his passing he was at Little Falls Hospital, with his loving daughter Denise by his side.

Charles was born in Cooperstown, NY, on June 17, 1943, the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Cary) Bouteiller.  He was raised and graduated from Richfield Springs High School.  Charles proudly served in the US Navy from November 1, 1961, until he was honorably discharged on October 31, 1967.  He then continued his education at State University College at Oneonta and received his master's in teaching.  He was employed by the Oriskany Central Schools as a 5th grade teacher and then continued to educate special needs children at the House of Good Shephard.  It was a job that didn't seem to be a job, but it was work he loved immensely all his life.  He was at one time united in marriage to Andrea Potts.  Charles was a member of American Legion Post #616, Richfield Springs, was an avid golfer playing in golf leagues at Meadow Links Golf Course, was the biggest fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and New York Knicks.

Charles is survived by his beloved daughter, his caregiver and life Denise Rigo and her companion Thomas Evans, West Winfield, NY, sister Joan Mohler and her husband Dr. Robert Mohler, Readfield, ME, and their children and several great nieces and nephews.  Charles is predeceased by his parents Charles, Ruth and a daughter Renee Bouteiller.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to his caregivers and entire staff at Little Falls Hospital Third floor unit for their loving and compassionate care shown to Charles and his daughter Denise.

There is no visitation or services planned at this time.  He will be laid to rest with his daughter Renee in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
