HERKIMER - Charlotte Stella Widay, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 10, 2018, in Faxton-St. Lukes Medical center, New Hartford, with her devoted family at her side. She was born on September 30, 1927, in Utica, daughter of the late John and Bertha Buczek Zajec. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Utica. On September 27, 1958 she was united in marriage to Theodore Widay in Utica. For over thirty six years she worked for the General Electric Company in Utica, retiring in 1988. Mrs. Widay had a strong faith in God and was a member of Sts. Anthony and Joseph RC Church. In her leisure time she was an avid reader who could remember every detail of the books and articles she had read. Charlotte will always be remembered as a warm and caring lady with a good sense of humor and enjoyed doing for others while looking for nothing in return. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her loving husband, Theodore, Sr. a son, Teddy Widay Jr. both of Herkimer, two daughters, Carol Bugal, Sharon Recchio and her husband James of Frankfort, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Zajec and a grandson, Jason Recchio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:00 am in The Church of Saints. Anthony and Joseph, Herkimer with the Reverend Quy Vo, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
