HERKIMER-Chester F. Fulmer, age 74, of West End Road, passed away on Wednesday afternoon July 24, 2002, in Faxton Hospital, Utica, with the comfort of his family around him.
He was born on February 12, 1928, in the town of Fairfield, son of the late Frank S. and Margaret McPherson Fulmer. A lifelong area resident he was educated in Fairfield Academy. On July 7, 1945 he married Cecelia Mae Stauring in Fairfield. A loving and devoted union of fifty-three years until her passing on March 24, 1999. For most of his life Chester was a self-employed Dairy Farmer and in later years he worked for B.O.C.E.S. retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Dairyman's League, the West Canada Grange and the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department. Chester was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving him are a son, Robert and his wife June Fulmer; one daughter, Barbara and her husband Wayne Hartman Sr. all of Little Falls; two brothers, Harold J. and his wife Donna Fulmer, Earl H. Fulmer all of Little Falls; seven grandchildren, Christa Ackley and her husband Mark, Trisha Fulmer-Grogan, Debra Comstock, Judi Patterson and her husband Michael, Carolyn Morris and her husband Sheldon, Wayne Hartman and his wife Joyce, and Kenneth Hartman, and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Prospect St. Herkimer, on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Memorial Gardens in Little Falls.
