Obituary

SCHUYLER LAKE - Christine Jane Bowen, age 80, of Church Street passed away peacefully on Saturday Evening March 3, 2007 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. Born in the Town of Exeter on February 14, 1927, a daughter, of the late Claude and Anna Curtis Wolcott. She was raised and educated in Schuyler Lake. In 1943 she married Howard Bowen in the West Exeter Methodist Church a blessed union of fifty-three years until his passing in 1996. Her and her husband had resided in Burlington Flats and in 1969 they moved to Schuyler Lake. Christine was a clerk at the Quickway Market in Schuyler Lake until she retired in 1996. Being very active she enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Richfield Springs Womens Bowling League. Occasionally she went golfing with her husband Howard, loved playing cards amongst friends, and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Christine was a friend to many and will never be forgotten Surviving her are two sons Howard, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Burlington Flats, Donald of Burlington Flats; a daughter Sandra and her husband Dale Bennett of West Burlington; six grandchildren Thomas Bennett, Gerald Bennett, Tammey Smith, Lisa Bowen, Teri Plows, and Brandy Zinger; six great-grandchildren Amanda Smith, Cody Smith, Eric Bennett, Rebecca Bennett, Brady Plows and Cole Plows; two brothers Claude Wolcott and his wife Marie of Burlington, Bruce Wolcott and his wife Norma of Richfield Springs. Besides her parents and husband Howard she was preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Wendell Wolcott and a sister Charlotte Waterman. It was Mrs. Bowens wish that the funeral service will be private and at the convenience of her family. Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the Schuyler Lake Fire Department Funeral arrangements are with the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
