, Christine E. Miller SPRINGFIELD CENTER - Christine E. Miller, 57, of Springfield Center and formally of Ilion and valley towns, passed over on Monday October 16, 2006 in her home with her family by her side, after alengthy battle with cancer.
She was born in Ilion , the daughter of the late Charles J. Miller and Jane Betty "Alexander" Miller. She attended Ilion schools, then later West Canada before transferring to and graduating from Mohawk High School . Later in life she earned an Associates Degree at HCCC, in Human Services. Always one to challenge convention, Christine was heralded as the first person at HCCC to ever bring her baby with her while attending classes. As a lover of life, she forever tried to share the beauty of her world with others. As a young girl she enjoyed paintings and had an interest inphotography. Most recently,pursuing her photographing, she captured the beauty of natures landscape within the Van Hornesville and Cherry Valley area. Her work had sold throughout the area, and is still on display at the Cherry Valley Branch Studio, in Cherry Valley . She loved the peace and tranquility of the countryside, and spent much of her time tending hervegetable and flower gardens, of which she was always so proud. She worked for the NYS Thruway Authority, in Schuyler, for the past 15 years and the NYS Trooper barracks, in Richfield , for the past several years, holding down both positionsuntil recently. She enjoyed her work with the troopers, and over the years embraced them as close friends and comrades.
Survivors include her son, Gavin A. Miller, of Springfield Center; her six sisters, Virginia Bajanen, of Mohawk, Jeanne Miller, of Herkimer, Jane Lombardo and husband Savey, of Ilion, Debra Duteau, of Fort Johnson, Carol Kirkum, of Las Vegas, and Pamela Zuis Blum, of Herkimer. She is also survived by her four brothers, including Stephen Miller, of Ilion, James and his wife Patty, of Newport , Richard Kirkum, of Rome , and Mike Terenzetti, of Saratoga Springs . She leaves behind several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and many special friends. At Christine's request there will be no calling hours.
