RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Christopher Wallace Starr, age 54, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 29, 2010 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born on February 7, 1956, in Herkimer, a son of Sidney Starr and the late Lorraine Marie Budka Starr. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident he was educated in Richfield Springs. A self employed laborer, for many years he worked on the family farm, as well as working for various local farms. He had also worked at greenhouses in the Uticaarea. At present he had worked as a finished carpenter.
Christopher will always be remembered as a free spirit. A conversation with him may have been frank and to the point but you could sense a kind hearted friendship when you were with him. If you were his friend he would do anything for you. As a true outdoorsman, he found much enjoyment in fishing, motorcycling. He also found peace and tranquility in tending his flower beds, especially growing roses. However his two sons were the center of his life and his kind heartiness will live on will them.
Surviving are this two sons, Christopher Lee Starr, Michael Paul Starr and their mother,
Sherry Starr-Hovick; his father, Sidney Starr; two brothers, Derrick Starr and his wife Carol, Mitchell Starr all of Richfield Springs, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his mother Marie who passed away on November 20, 2009, he was preceded in death by a brother Lee Starr.
The family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, RichfieldSprings, to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
